Webinar: Malaria - Reignite the fight
Malaria remains one of the most important public health concerns globally, with more than 3.2 billion people in 91 countries at risk of infection.
Early and accurate diagnosis of malaria is vital in the fight against malaria, so that specific treatment can be initiated thereby preventing complications and reducing mortality.
By virtue of its violet semiconductor laser with a 405 nm beam, which permits the detection of smaller particles, the Sysmex XN-31 automated haematology analyser, in addition to the standard full blood count parameters, can detect and count malaria-infected red blood cells (MI-RBC) utilising the principle of fluorescence flow cytometry.
The purpose of the webinar is to share knowledge on the basics of malaria transmission, the lifecycle of the causing pathogen as well as its diagnosis, and the role of the XN-31.
It is important to understand the life cycle of Plasmodium when discussing malaria. Diagnosis and treatments are based on some of the many distinct parasite lifecycle stages.
